Running a 5 Day Gadget Giveaway Promotion

A 5 Day Gadget Giveaway Promotion combines a quick poll with a reader competition to promote your company’s product or service on Real Fresh TV.

Designed to get instant feedback on your company’s product or service and engage our readers at the same time, a 5 day Gadget Giveaway allows you to promote your company’s product or service to Real Fresh TV’s actively engaged audience and receive valuable feedback at the same time.

I will illustrate what I mean by way of an example:

Say you run an online business selling bottled fruit juice.

You would like to promote your business online over the Christmas period.

You are also thinking ahead to your January sales and would like to know what sort of fruit juices your customers would like to imbibe as they start the traditional healthy living kick in January.

You can do both by running a sponsored 5 Day Gadget Giveaway on Real Fresh TV.

How it works
Real Fresh TV chooses a desirable gadget to giveaway on our site. We gave away an iPhone in the last one, we are thinking about giving an iPod Touch in the next one.

You contact Real Fresh TV with a simple Yes/No poll for entrants to answer as part of your fruit juice promotion. Examples include the following:

First Poll Example:
We are thinking about offering pineapple and kiwi fruit juice in 6 pack bundles in January. Would you buy one?

  • Yes
  • No

Second Poll Example:
Which would you prefer?

  • Cranberry Juice
  • Blueberry Juice

You also provide a simple question that elicits a response from competition entrants. This question forms the basis of the giveaway element of the promotion. Here’s an example:

Giveaway Question Example:
Tell us what type of fruit juice you prefer to drink with cucumber sandwiches for a chance to win an Apple iPod Touch.

Each giveaway costs £500 (+VAT) and runs for five days starting on a Monday and concluding on a Friday.

The reader response with the highest votes on Friday afternoon wins the prize.

Why should you bother? The visitor engagement stats for Real Fresh TV say it all. Site visitors are spending up to 8 minutes on the site.

Real Fresh TV manages all aspects of the giveaway, providing daily updates on realfresh.tv and vetting and monitoring entrants for you.

In addition, Real Fresh TV also asks each prize winner to provide a review of the gadget won within 24 hours of receiving it as a way of keeping the rest of our readership informed.

Your company and product receive promotion and marketing at every stage of the process, even after the prize has been delivered.

That’s it

    Hi Chi-chi,

I like your new Giveaway Sponsorship Package, but could i make a few suggestions:

First of all, i think its important you keep the competition in a blog style. What do i mean?

Well.. that basically means, the company sponsering the prize would give a brief outline of what they do, and what they hope to achevie with the competition and a link back to there website. Benefisial to the sponsering company, and the user (engaging article with a prize attached to it).

Secondly and most importantly, what are you doing to promote this competition! Digging the story or maybe getting users to tell other users.

    I suggest:

    1. Create a Widget (http://www.widgetbox.com/) or a small banner, that links back to you. Can be used by bloggers and anybody with a website.

    2. You set a partnership programme with other bloggers, allowing them to promote your competition. Note, when the a user wins, you check your website to see which website the user came from, and then that partner gets a small commission £50 or $100 for there trouble.. or something like that.

Using the above method allows you to get free advertisement for your competition on lots of websites, and the partner benefits from a nice commission.

Overall by using some of the methods i have suggested, i believe you are providing a better product for your giveaway sponsor’s.. more awareness and more competition entries.

Its also important to give away things that are popular. A ipod touch would be great, i would love one.. see.. there you go, when can i enter the competition..lol

drop me a email, if you want me to elaborate..

    Hope that was helpful

    Regards

    Imran

    @ Imran:

Thanks again for a delightfully detailed comment. You are putting the ‘Real’ into Real Fresh TV ;o)

I’m looking into every suggestion you put forward, especially using WidgetBox to promoting sponsored giveaways. I’ve known about WidgetBox for a while now but wasn’t aware one could make widgets out of blog posts.

Also, I now understand what you mean by writing blog updates to outline what the sponsoring company does and what they hope to achieve with the sponsored giveaway as the campaign progresses.

Top idea. I’m all for promoting more aspects of the sponsoring company than just the product or service they are directly promoting using the sponsored giveaway as it can only generate more goodwill. It’s all about delighting the customer…

As far as reaching out to other bloggers, that is also a good idea and I will be doing so shortly.

I haven’t been able to promote the story since writing it yesterday as I have been involved with an important business conference here in Manchester (www.businessnorthwest.co.uk)

I’m going to submit the story to Digg later today and will also contact a few top social media bloggers I know.

These bloggers will form the first ‘promotional partnership’ for our sponsored gadget giveaways.

And yes, you are right on the money about giving them a commission for taking part.

Paying a commission of between $50-$100 to the partner blog that recommends the competition winner seems fair. I guess the onus is then on the partner blog to ask people it encourages to enter the giveaway to explicitly state where they came from in their competition entry… This is a neat idea because it is very easy to implement. Thanks.

Yes, an iPod Touch seems the most logical gadget to give away next, in keeping with the Apple theme…

I see you are flexing your voting fingers already for the next giveaway ;o)

Not too long to wait now.
