A day later than expected, here’s the last in the 5 part series covering Sheffield’s impressive Melt 2008 Inspiration Session.
These are notes from my favourite talk at Melt, Tom Savigar of the Future Laboratory’s trend briefing covering consumer trends and insights for a number of industries.
Get Your Music Video on YouTube’s Most Viewed List In A Week
Posted on 22. Aug, 2008 by Chi-chi Ekweozor in Inspired, Your Opinion, Please
This is a bit of a social media experiment.
A few hours ago, I discovered that if you searched for ‘New Music Videos’ on Google.co.uk, this humble website was the fifth search result returned.
That’s Real Fresh TV’s New Music Videos page, listed higher on Google than MTV UK, NME.com and Channel 4.
Go ahead and try it… hopefully nothing has changed.
Manchester Band Spotted by Real Fresh TV Performs Glastonbury Festival
Posted on 30. Apr, 2008 by Chi-chi Ekweozor in Inspired
Allow us the self-congratulatory whoop but a Manchester band Real Fresh TV spotted and filmed back in 2006 is performing at this year’s Glastonbury festival!
Meet the The Ting Tings!
Back then they were Dear Eskiimo and you can watch their highly entertaining performance at the Futuresonic 2006 festival here.
The lucky few of you that will get coveted tickets to Glastonbury 2008 can see them perform on the John Peel stage on June 27.
Well done Katie and Jules! All that hardwork paid off…
UPDATE: Apple have also selected the Ting Tings song “Shut Up and Let me Go” for US TV adverts for the iPod+iTunes. Awesome. Watch on Apple and YouTube.
Exploring Some Tips for Great Branded Video in 2008
Posted on 07. Feb, 2008 by Chi-chi Ekweozor in Multi-Platform Content

I recently come across a neat article by Julie Ruvolo of DivX’s Stage6 in which she analysed a selection of branded content campaigns by brands as varied as Apple, Toyota and Ecko.
The article seems to suggest that the key to great branded online video lies in blending the unconventional with the practical: a few of her examples involved collections of themed videos; she offered up Apple’s Mac vs PC TV ads which have translated very well online and Ecko’s maverick ‘stillfree.com’ video series.

Day 12 in the First British iPhone Giveaway
Posted on 16. Nov, 2007 by Chi-chi Ekweozor in Trends

Most of you will now know that today’s voting mishap has been resolved and that the deadline for the iPhone giveaway has been extended for the last time to midnight on Sunday to accommodate it.
For those unaware, my web developer inadvertently broke the voting system for a few hours this afternoon when he uploaded the changes I requested back on Tuesday (he has been having email problems), oblivious to the fact that I had already fixed the problems with voting earlier this week.
Voting Fixed in the iPhone Giveaway… Again
Posted on 16. Nov, 2007 by Chi-chi Ekweozor in Announcements

Arrghhhh, I can’t take much more of this!!!
Apologies for those who weren’t able to vote for a few hours today.
My web developer, who has been off email for the last few days finally received the frantic email I sent him on Tuesday and made the modifications to the Comment Karma plugin I suggested back then.
Obviously, this broke Comment Karma and set the voting system back to the no-voting-state we had all day Wednesday and most of Thursday.
I’ve fixed it by uploading the fix I wrote yesterday so you should be able to vote again.
Please resume voting.
