How We’re Boosting SEO for a FTSE 100 Company

Last week I had a very interesting request from a London-based Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) company.
The company, a well-respected search engine marketing agency called Greenlight requested that I placed a link to two Alliance & Leicester financial products on the bottom of the entry for Alliance & Leicester in this site’s study of social media usage amongst FTSE 100 companies.
The Greenlight representative was also kind enough to offer to compensate me for my trouble.

Or so it would seem.
It’s the season for predictions. From the BBC’s list of hotly tipped bands for 2009 to Wired’s list of tech predictions including a look at the wry miscalculations of yesteryear, this time of year it seems you can’t move for lists of predictions.
I’ll throw one into the mix for good measure. I think that 2009 will be the year social media makes its way into the enterprise in the UK.

Some pleasant surprises in this next instalment of the study on social media usage by FTSE 100 companies.
BSkyB Group, the media conglomerate, ticks all the boxes providing RSS feeds, comprehensive online video and social sharing facilities for content.
Its recent move to add more social networking functionality by launching a Sky Community feature on its digital media properties moves them several steps ahead of the other companies profiled.
