Disqus Feature Request: A Chance To Monetise?
Posted on 05. May, 2008 by Chi-chi Ekweozor in Your Opinion, Please
I’ve just installed Disqus, a neat blog comment management system on this site, joining over 4000 blogs.
Disqus is a blog comment management system that effectively turns comments on a blog into a community.
I like Disqus because the profile page provided for each commenter at Disqus.com adds an additional level of accountability to each comment, something I think surpasses its ‘threaded comments’ feature which is what initially attracted me to it.
However, as fantastic as it is, Disqus lacks something I really need:

Posted on 03. Dec, 2007 by Chi-chi Ekweozor in Announcements

Look out for the iPhone review by Kuli, winner of the first British iPhone Giveaway later on this week.
He will actually be posting it on here himself, complete with pictures, which is pretty exciting.

Refining the vision: Sponsored Gadget Giveaways
Posted on 22. Nov, 2007 by Chi-chi Ekweozor in Social Media Strategies
Following today’s fantastically insightful comments by Imran and Chris Fleming on how to run gadget giveaways, I am currently thinking hard about revising how sponsored gadget giveaways work to make them really effective for all involved: the entrants, the sponsoring company and Real Fresh TV.
Imran made some brilliant suggestions about promoting sponsored giveaways using blog widgets via WidgetBox and by approaching respected bloggers and offering them a commission to promote the campaign to their readers.
The commission, provisionally pitched in the $50-$100 range, would only be payable if a regular reader of the partner blog goes on to win the prize.
The idea itself is worthy of merit if only for its promotional benefits. I will be approaching a handful of respected social media bloggers about this and putting forward how it could work for the mutual benefit of all involved after I’ve resolved current issues with how the giveaways work.
Which leads nicely on to my next point…
Running a 5 Day Gadget Giveaway Promotion
Posted on 21. Nov, 2007 by Chi-chi Ekweozor in Inspired
A 5 Day Gadget Giveaway Promotion combines a quick poll with a reader competition to promote your company’s product or service on Real Fresh TV.
Designed to get instant feedback on your company’s product or service and engage our readers at the same time, a 5 day Gadget Giveaway allows you to promote your company’s product or service to Real Fresh TV’s actively engaged audience and receive valuable feedback at the same time.
I will illustrate what I mean by way of an example:
Say you run an online business selling bottled fruit juice.
You would like to promote your business online over the Christmas period.
You are also thinking ahead to your January sales and would like to know what sort of fruit juices your customers would like to imbibe as they start the traditional healthy living kick in January.
You can do both by running a sponsored 5 Day Gadget Giveaway on Real Fresh TV.

Day 12 in the First British iPhone Giveaway
Posted on 16. Nov, 2007 by Chi-chi Ekweozor in Trends

Most of you will now know that today’s voting mishap has been resolved and that the deadline for the iPhone giveaway has been extended for the last time to midnight on Sunday to accommodate it.
For those unaware, my web developer inadvertently broke the voting system for a few hours this afternoon when he uploaded the changes I requested back on Tuesday (he has been having email problems), oblivious to the fact that I had already fixed the problems with voting earlier this week.
Voting Fixed in the iPhone Giveaway… Again
Posted on 16. Nov, 2007 by Chi-chi Ekweozor in Announcements

Arrghhhh, I can’t take much more of this!!!
Apologies for those who weren’t able to vote for a few hours today.
My web developer, who has been off email for the last few days finally received the frantic email I sent him on Tuesday and made the modifications to the Comment Karma plugin I suggested back then.
Obviously, this broke Comment Karma and set the voting system back to the no-voting-state we had all day Wednesday and most of Thursday.
I’ve fixed it by uploading the fix I wrote yesterday so you should be able to vote again.
Please resume voting.
