‘Combining Twitter with a Business Blog’
As Group owner, I’m thinking of switching the closed Manchester Social Media Surgery Group on LinkedIn to an open Group, meaning all past discussions will be tucked away in a members-only archive and all future discussions will be visible and fully searchable and shareable on the Web.
The Manchester Social Media Surgery Group on the world’s leading social network for professionals has grown organically to eclipse numbers on its Social Media Manchester counterpart and now boasts 90 members compared to Social Media Manchester’s 60.
To be honest, this has taken me by surprise!
You may have heard of the Social Media Surgery before but you may not know they’ve been running since 2009 and are incredibly well received by the digital, creative, media and marketing community in Manchester.
Manchester Social Media Surgery events takes place on the second Tuesday of every month and feature a panel of experienced social media practitioners who answer questions put forward by the audience. Each event is themed around a specific social media challenge for business and attendance is free.

The Social Media Surgery is a free monthly event that attempts to help Manchester businesses embrace the social media revolution in order to grow their company.
Each event features a panel of experienced digital and social media marketers who discuss social media projects and issues presented by the audience.
The informal networking events offer an opportunity to find out how other companies are benefitting from using free social media tools like Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn to market and grow their businesses.

Can you believe that November marks the two year anniversary of the first Social Media Cafe Manchester event? Unbelievable!!
The influential Social Media Cafe Manchester network, now at over 750 members started off as a ‘debate on blogging’ at the Northern pub in November 2008. I felt honoured to be invited to be part of the panel debate and remember being excited about blogging my review of that inaugural event.
